Peter's will, dated March 1893 clearly names his
wife as Maria Mock. David C. Mock,
his half brother is executor and it is attested by Leander Mock. In Jan 1899 David C. Mock goes before the court and states that the widow Maria
Mock and granddaughter Ella May Mock, named in the will, are entitled to the property
listed. Therefore, Maria must have
died after Jan. 1899.

George probably died before 1899 since he was not

Guefsford, Nicoele (sic) Sapp (sic) J. Bodenhammer, (Rowan Co. Estates Records
1753-1929 Name Philip Mock 1821)
June
1819 and signed by him in German, is not recorded in the Rowan Co. Will Books
but survives among the original wills at the NC Archives. This is the will of a
prosperous settler in the area of Rowan that became Davidson Co., a man with
married grandchildren and a wife young enough that the prospect of children in
esse was a possibility. The will is even more interesting in that it was
witnessed by one of the legatees, David Mock , son of the testator and the first Clerk of Court in
the newly formed county of Davidson, a man of success, as the records show, lay
on something firmer than his ability to manage money. The law, then and now,
stated that a man who receives by a Will cannot be a witness to it. But the
signature of the witness and that of the son and co-executor are undeniably
identical. The invalidation of the Will by the legatee-witness provides the
reason the Will was never probated.

Jacob Mock Family
In
the year 1752, the Ship St. Andrews docked in the harbor on the PA coast. She had sailed
from Rotterdam with a ship load of passengers headed for a life in the unknown
new world. Among those hardy passengers was a man by the name of John Mock with his 4 sons, George, Theobold, Phillip &
Godlip. They qualified in what is now
the state of PA 23 Sep 1752. A fifth son, b. 14 Mar 1753, came to NC in 1784.
He is remembered for his service in the American Revolution.
From
the Commonwealth of PA, PA Historical and Museum Commission, there are the
words: 28 July 1972 To Whom it may concern: This is to certify that one Jacob
Mock was enrolled as a private, Third
Class, Captain Beatty's First Company, second Battalion Chester County Militia
according to the evidence of a Return of First Four Classes ordered on a Tour

Julianna Kappus (9 Mar 1767 - 14

Note:
The Moravian records may prove that this Jacob is indeed the son of Johannes.
The record indicates that his birth was 1752. Philip, bro. of Jacob was b. 27
Oct 1752 - impossible for both to be b. in same year. I f Philip was born on
that date, it would mean he was b. 1 month after they arrived in PA.
