"Apparently Abraham died before 1880 but after about 1875/76, when he presumably fathered Rossetta. In searching the 1860 & 1850 censuses for Abraham & his parents, the only match I have so far is Abraham, b. 1846, son of Samuel and Margaret Mauk of neighboring Jefferson Co. While this is probably the same Abraham, the fact that the age differs by 4 yrs. from age given in 1870 census for "my" Abraham raises enough doubt that I am still searching, just in case.

Samuel was the son of Jacob and Susannah Mauk, also of Jefferson Co..I have a copy of a 1903 newspaper clipping announcing the 50th wedding anniversary of Hiram Kinney Carrier and his wife Susan, d/o the above Jacob Mauk. She states in the article that she was born near Hollidaysburg, PA in 1833, but the family moved to Jefferson Co., but in those days it was in Bedford Co. and his wife, Susannah Walters, b. 1798. I have seen one family group sheet that shows the father of this Jacob to be John Mock b. 1775, son of Peter Mock, b. 1747, d. 1817 & buried in the Mock Farm Cem. near Osterburg in Bedford Co., but more proof of this relationship is needed."
